509 ENGLISH CIVIL WAR PERIOD CAVALRY TROOPER’S HELMET: C.1640. Hemispheric skull with six ribs & four articulated neck lames; sliding nasal bar with a heart shaped locking screw & original earpieces; old, riveted repair to the front peak & stamped Armourer’s star mark over 17611; having a nice aged patina o/all with original leather. A good example of a helmet imported from Europe during the Civil War & known as a ‘Dutch Pot’. These were used by the Royalist side due to Cromwell having the control of most of the crown armouries. 510 ENGLISH CIVIL WAR PERIOD PIKEMAN’S ‘MORION’ STEEL HELMET: C.1640-50 with Armourer’s mark SH & Tower Armouries mark; two-piece skull with an inch high rolled comb; plume fitting at the rear; original rivets around the rim that held the leather lining; dark grey age patina overall; replacement leather earpiece fittings. 511 RARE SUMO-TIBETAN SIEGE TYPE IRON HELMET: domed skull formed of 10 overlapping embossed plates to form raised ribs, each plate having a silver inlaid mon type tailman to the bottom edge; the top fitted with a moulded baluster shaped finial; angular peak to the front; metal neck guard consisting of 4 rows of 39 overlapping plates joined by narrow strips of leather, missing in various spots; g. cond with an even brown patina.
